PP 93 submachine gun with a folded stock and a 20 round magazine

The involuntarily uncomfortable ergonomics of the folding PP-90 submachine gun made designers develop a simpler non-folding, but easier to handle version. Thus, the Tula-based instrument Design Bureau developed the PP-93 compact submachine gun with a folding stock and a range of fire of up to 100 m. The Kovrov Mechanical Plant put the submachine gun into production in 1994. The PP-93 is in service with law-enforcement bodies and the Russian interior Ministry Forces.
The operating principle of the PP-93 is generally the same as that of the PP-90: it is a blowback-operated weapon, with the upper part of me bolt assembly running over the barrel. Cartridges are fired by the rear sear. The manual safety/fire selector lever set in the middle position locks the sear in the rear position selects single-shot fire, and in the forward position selects automatic fire. There is an automatic drop and impact safety, which prevents accidental cocking and discharges. The open-type cartridge ejector is mounted on the right of the receiver. A grooved moving part of the front Slower part of the receiver act as a cocking handle, when the submachine gun is fared this handle is fixed m place by a spring-loaded latch.
When fired unsupported in a continuous burst at a range of 25 m0 all bullets will strike a chest-sized target.
The box magazine is inserted through the inclined pistol grip, fitted with shock-resistant plastic plates. The magazine release button speeds up reloading. Given the lack of a fore-grip, a two-handed grasp, similar to that used on pistols, is preferable - the bent front edge of the large trigger guard facilitates a two-handed grip. The pressed-steel butt-stock of the PP-93 folds up-and-over the receiver. Dimensions of the shoulder stock have been reduced to the maximum extent possible, but the stock can be jammed between the elbow and the side off the body.
A reduced width of the submachine gun and low battle sights facilitate concealed carrying. The PP-93 can be carried in a holster under outer garments or on the belt it can also be equipped with a suppressor.
